The challenge
Large supplier contracts contain commitments, such as rates, caps, rebates and service levels, that are rarely checked against what is actually invoiced. Enterprises wanted AI to help, but they could not accept outcomes that depended on a model’s judgement and could not be audited.
AI decides
- Outcome depends on model judgement
- Hard to explain to auditors
- Inconsistent from run to run
AI reads, rules decide
- AI extracts each contract once
- Documented rules make decisions
- Consistent, explainable, auditable
Our approach
- Separated reading from deciding. AI reads each contract once and extracts the commitments. Fixed, transparent business rules then make the decisions, so results are consistent and auditable.
- Defined a four-step client rollout: extract the commitments, agree where the tracking data lives, connect it, then flag breaches and advise on recovery.
- Tested the approach against major construction and aviation contract standards.
- Refocused the product on the highest-value outcome: recovering overbilling.

The outcome
- An auditable AI pattern (“AI reads, rules decide”) now central to how we embed AI in finance
- A repeatable four-step rollout method for enterprise clients
- A clear, measurable value case built around recovered cash
